Due to depleting finances the Chaffee Neighborhood Civic Association Board has voted to postpone our annual picnic which was scheduled for October 21. We will plan to hold it instead on May 5, 2019. Our membership in the Chaffee Neighborhood Civic Association has continued to drop.
A large expenditure from the $10 yearly dues go towards the liability insurance that we must have in order to hold the picnic and our monthly meetings; our newsletters (both paper and the fees for Constant Contact, which we use to organize our electronic communications); yard signs; monthly community cleanup supplies, and more. If you have not yet joined CNCA or need to renew, please consider doing so today!
The CNCA is the oldest, and continuous civic organization in Huntsville and regarded by city leaders as a model civic association. We coordinate monthly meetings for the Chaffee Community that feature guest speakers whose information directly impacts the neighborhood. Our most recent speaker was the regional manager for fourteen Kroger Stores, and the feedback he received from our neighbors at that meeting has already resulted in changes being implemented at our local Kroger Store. CNCA also coordinates our Community Watch Program; gathers each month for a neighborhood cleanup, as well as coordinates the annual picnic that has always been a big community event spanning beyond two decades.
Our board members are dedicated to representing the interests of the Chaffee community to the City of Huntsville by regularly attending Huntsville City Council Meetings; Huntsville Council of Neighborhood Associations Meeting; South Huntsville Business Association Meeting, and Huntsville Community Watch Events. CNCA maintains constant liaison with Dr. Jennie Robinson (City Council Representative); South Precinct Police Department; City of Huntsville Community Development, and our City of Huntsville Department of Public Works for all types of activities affecting the appearance and safety of our Chaffee Neighborhood.
***We have 864 households in our neighborhood, and only a small percentage are currently CNCA members. Please help us improve those numbers. We live in an awesome community with a whole lot of exciting things happening in the next few years. Help continue to build the 50+ year Chaffee legacy! To join CNCA for $10/year, visit our website at https://www.cncahsv.com/get-involved/membership. You can join online there or through the mail by sending a check to CNCA, P.O. Box 4526, Huntsville, AL 35815.
Our next Community Meeting will be Monday, October 22 at 6:30 in Community Fellowship Baptist Church on Logan Drive. Our guest speaker will be Mr. John Olshefski (Public Relations Officer) and other key members from Huntsville Utilities.
Thank you to all of our CNCA members for your support!
